Toronto, Vancouver, Raleigh Representatives Among Final Three

The National Hockey League has unveiled the finalists for the prestigious Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the player who best exemplifies sportsmanship, gentlemanly conduct, and a high standard of playing ability. This year's finalists are:

  • Auston Matthews, Toronto Maple Leafs
  • Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks
  • Jaccob Slavin, Carolina Hurricanes

Matthews, a center, led the NHL in scoring during the 2023-24 season with 60 goals and 50 assists. Pettersson, a winger, had a breakout campaign with 42 goals and 45 assists. Slavin, a defenseman, was a key contributor to the Hurricanes' success, scoring six goals and 48 assists while maintaining a plus-minus rating of 30.

All three finalists have a history of playing with respect and integrity. Slavin is a two-time Lady Byng Trophy finalist, having won the award in 2020-21. Matthews and Pettersson have both been praised for their sportsmanship throughout their careers.

The winner of the Lady Byng Trophy will be announced at the NHL Awards ceremony in June.
